So Make It

SoMakeIt – the Southampton UK Makerspace project

I am a trustee of SoMakeIt, my local Makerspace/Hackerspace.

SoMakeIt is a not-for-profit organisation located in Southampton, Hampshire UK. SoMakeIt is essentially a Hackerspacewith a wider emphasis on all creative areas rather than just electronics and computing.

Here is a short video that I made showing the sorts of activities that go on at SoMakeIt:

At the time of writing the space occupies 650sq/ft of a premises at Unit K6 Liners Industrial Estate. This is a new, dedicated, location as of January 2014

SoMakeIt has a growing membership of diverse people who are undertaking many individual and group projects. There are many tools available in the space including a 3D printer, metal lathe, various machine/bench and hand tools, and lots of donated items for hacking/repurposing. There is a sewing machine available on request, and more equipment to come.

You can check out the SoMakeIt facebook page for the latest activity, and if you’re in the local area then please visit if you’d like to get involved.
