Experimental Boat Build – Testing on Water
This page is about initial testing of the boat on water, check out the main project index for the rest.
There is a YouTube video about this which shows the testing as well as thoughts on the next steps.
Testing took place on the River Hamble in Southampton, UK. The boat held water which means that the construction technique is successful. Also the boat appears to be dimensionally stable.
However, the hull shape is far too pointy and so the boat is quite unstable, although due to its high sides it probably won’t capsize too easily. It will get caught by the wind however, so the plan is to rectify this is to add lumps to either side of the hull to make a ‘tri-hull’ boat, and cut down the top. Check out the next part in the main index.
